The Montezuma County Federal Lands Program was established by the Montezuma County Commission in February of 1992. The purpose of the Federal Lands Program is to provide meaningful involvement in the multiple use management and stewardship of the public lands that affect the wellbeing of the citizens of Montezuma County including the San Juan National Forest, the San Juan Resource Area of BLM, Mesa Verde National Park and the US Bureau of Reclamation Dolores Project. The policy framework that guides the Federal Lands Program are outlined in Chapter 12 of the
Montezuma County Comprehensive Land Use Plan.
